    Description

Antique Dutch Brass Engraved Snuffbox circa late 1700s-early 1800s with lovely, intricate wriggle work and engraved decoration. On the bottom of the box there appears to be a man seated under a tree reaching for a bowl of food offered by a woman. There also appears to be another woman holding a plate of food on the right side. On the top of the box there appears to be a man in a small boat coming in to shore likely from a sailing ship in the distance. On the right is a man smoking a pipe and relaxing next to kegs and sacks (or coconuts?). There is a lot of writing on the box (Dutch I assume) which I cannot translate.
The bottom of the box is slightly pushed in on the sides. That is hardly noticeable, and the box is sturdy and stable. There is a very tiny hole as seen on the right of the 6th picture. There may be an early small repair inside box near the hinge. The lid is a little hard to close, but it doe

close tightly. The shadows on the fist few pictures are due to my limited abilities as a photographer. The piece has some wear but is in very good shape for a piece of this age. This is a very pretty box. Please examine my pictures closely as they are a large part of my description.
