Description
This listing is for a unique red, antique flask: Curtis's and Harvey's FFF Gunpowder with a carved wooden stopper. Flask is worn from use- see photos taken from all sides. In 1820, Sir William Curtis (a banker) and W. G. Harvey bought a gunpowder works at Hounslow in England. It had been around since the early 1700's. These men also purchased Tonbridge Powder Mills and Kames's Gunpowder Company. Along with other companies they bought, C and H began to make and supply cordite to the War Office and soon became the largest manufacturer in England. Their "specialties" included: Amberite Smokeless sporting powders, Diamond Grain black sporting powder, Dreadnought and Evening Star gas mantles, Dynamite, Blasting Powders for coal mines, Cheddite and Winte Gelignite which would not freeze, and warming pans. This clean flask will be mailed to you at no cost from a smoke-free home.
