This is a Custom Made 15/16" Breech Plug Removal Wrench for Thompson Center Patent Breech Plugs. It fits .45 and .50 T/C Hawken and other T/C 15/16" barrels..
I've had several complete sets of the T/C wrenches. Some have taken a pretty good beating through the years. Since I have after hours access to a complete machine shop I decided to build some of these tools. This tool is cut from a full 1/2" (.500") of T-1 (ASTM514B) plate steel. The T/C tools I have vary in material and thickness but none are this hard. I cut these with a Mitsubishi 3500-watt/5000-watt pulse CO2 laser cutting machine.
Using the original T/C tool as a pattern, this tool is within .0015 of the original. Keep in mind the original allows appx. 1/32" overage or slack so you can pad under the wrench with leather or felt to keep from marring the plug.
All that said, this is a stronger tool made with better quality steel than the originals.
