Brown Bess English Original Lock

Description

Usable parts or convert back to Flintlock, but adding a pan. Good clear markings on this original English Bess lock . High hammer possibly from a Southern Conversion at the beginning of the Civil War. Measures about 6 7/8" long X 1.260" high just behind the pan cut-out. The interior parts look complete and the mainspring has slipped off the sear. Top of the mainspring where it was hammer forged has a separation line and on top a slit line, but the spring still flexes.
