Description:
A beautiful and rather large banknote from Romania. This is the 10 September 1941; 1000 Lei. This large banknote has a blue and green design on pink background on the front. The design shows farm women along both sides in various activities such as nursing a baby and carrying a basket full of vegetation. The front also has a white circle in its center where the watermark resides. The back of the note has the same color scheme as the front except it comes in a slightly darker shade. It shows farm women in various activities such as holding a ladder and carrying farm tools on their shoulders. It also has a large white circle in the center. The note has two signatures on the front as well as the denomination, date and serial number. This particular note has the serial 54125840 which is displayed on top of the central circle. It also appears to be from a series A.2166 which is shown twice on the front. There is also another number (0840), which is displayed twice on the front. None of these numbers are shown on the back of the note. The back is nicely framed in a very decorative design and displays the denomination in the four corners. The note has a watermark showing the head of a man with a laurel in his hair. Please carefully view scan as it is part and parcel of our description.

Condition:
I would grade this banknote as a nice “NET” very fine with all the details being very well preserved. The NET is added to the grade because the note has brown stains in the center from the middle to the bottom edge. Other than that, the note is lightly soiled, retains quite a bit of its original crispiness and has no graffiti, or pinholes. The note has a small tear to the top edge close to the center that is 7 millimeters long and goes down on an angel. Additionally, the edges are a bit rough especially at the ends of the vertical folds as well as the horizontal fold. The corners are intact but show rounding and bumping. Be that as it may, this is a nice banknote worthy f a spot in your collection. Please see photo for additional condition information.
