Description

An antique pewter pocket size lidded pillbox/snuffbox.
A die-cast structure, oblong with rounded corners and hinged lid.
Beautifully decorated relief landscape with a hunting dog
and a hunter with rifle on a background.
Slightly rough with few dings to underside,
just indication of age and use,
please see and inspect all photos.
Lid sits tight, hinge and axle are secure - no backlash.
Not monogrammed.
Marked underside:
letter "C" over trademark;
"Trumpet and banner" a trademark for James Dixon and Sons;
"James Dixon & Sons" for makers/manufacturers;
"Sheffield" for city of origin;
"Cornish Pewter" a trademark;
"Made in England" for country of origin;
"L 1461" probably for pattern or manufacturers code.
