Description
Never heard of the E.J. Towle Company of Seattle whose label is on the back. Did a Google and they made souvenir spoons and even made some Seafair hydroplane brass pins. I assume the plaque was made to give to the winner and his name would be inscribed in the open space at the bottom. But no winner's name. Was this given to the winner after the race and was to be inscribed later? Anybody know? It's 23-3/4 x 14-1/4 x 5/8". The unknown lightweight wood has a slight curve to it. The brass cutouts are glued down on to raised wood screws. Some cutouts are glued onto another brass piece and some glue has gone bad so not flush as originally made. In the upper right is the Space Needle with a bent tower pole and I don't know what the modern triangular pieces represent. In the upper left the 3 pieces must be the Blue Angels in formation. Then you have at the bottom 3 hydroplanes of varying sizes. The middle one has become separated but with a dab of epoxy can be re-attached. I did not reattach so I could show how they used the screws. They used lighter application of stain to add more detail. The lighter stain on top represents the Olympic Mountains. The lighter stain on the bottom represents the rooster tails of the 3 boats. You can also pick up locally.Payment
