    Description

    AUTHENTIC ANTIQUE
    Bottles FULL of
late 19th-early 20th century Medium (Turpentine, Gum Wax, Absorbent Cotton)
    for
HAND TINTING BLACK & WHITE Photographs
    !
This product was Designed, Developed, & Produced in Rochester, NY until, at least, 1922 by the JAPANESE WATER COLOR COMPANY.
    DESCRIPTION
    :
3 items purchased from an Estate Sale together— These were primarily used for adding color to Tintypes, Ambrotypes, etc.
The bottles, labels, & cotton package would make a beautiful display!
The only reference I could find to these exact products- were in photography magazines from 1910-1922.  According to the magazine articles, they were used as a medium for adding tints on mid-20th century photos. Similar to products in the Marshall’s Photo Oil Color kits, but I believe these are professional grade materials.
The Peerless watercolor papers are readily available on eBay & Amazon. They are also used for stamping & produce very bright and vibrant color.
If you know any specifics, or have more information - I am thoroughly curious.
Please see all the pictures for a complete description of this Lot & contact me with any questions or concerns!
